Vocabulary terms for the week of 11/14/11

5th grade terms:
romp- an energetic and noisy way to play
strained- stretched to the limit, either physically or mentally
shouldered- carried the weight
lunging- making sudden forward movement
wheeled- turned quickly
frantic- wild with excitement or worry
picturing- creating a mental image of something
bounding- leaping
checking- limiting or controlling something
stride- the rhythm of your walking and the length of your steps

6th grade terms:
condition- n- a disease or state of health
diagnosis-n- the identification of a disease through examination of a patient
stroke-n- a sudden, severe attack; a sudden loss of blood flow to the brain
setback-n- an unexpected stop in progress

7th grade terms:
agile- adj- quick and light in movement
despair- v- to lose hope
dismay-n- distress caused by trouble or something unexpected
eavesdrop-v-to listen secretly to a private conversation of others
falsify- v- to make false by adding to or changing
vile- adj- disgusting; unpleasant
