Happy Monday!!!

7th Graders:  Today the 7th graders were sent home with 7 tests/quizzes/rubrics with grades.  Keep an eye out for those.  Lots of high scores!  Tonight's HW is to read Chp 18 -- there will be a quiz tomorrow.  We will be finishing City of Ember Wednesday.  Thursday we will be working on the last blog which will be due at the end of that period.  Friday the weekly vocab is due at the BEGINNING of the period.

5th Graders:  Enjoy your class trip tomorrow!  We will be finishing up our posters and presenting them Wednesday.  Then we will start a new story Thursday.  The vocab/story test for the new story won't be until next week.

6th Grade Grades

The 6th graders were sent home with their grade folders today!  Keep an eye out for their quizzes and project rubrics.  There are lots of stellar scores to be seen!

Monday, May 14, 2012

7th Graders: today we read chp 13 in class.  For tonight's HW, please read Chp 14 and pay attention to the things that Doon and Lina discover once they locate that script E on the rock.  Wednesday you will have to read Chp 16 and identify 3 similies.  Remember that your vocab will be due Friday (five words: definition, sentence from the story and page number, and your own sentence).  TThere will be no blog this week except for extra credit.

5th Graders: Our vocab quiz from last week's vocab will be tomorrow.  Then we will be reading different short stories in small groups.  You will have a project instead of a test which will be due Friday, but we will have class time to work on it so please don't fret!

6th Graders: Tonight's HW is to read Chp 6.  We will have a quiz on it tomorrow.  Wednesday you will need to read Chp 9 and write a brief summary of how Brian builds a fire.  Remember, haven't done the blog from last week or the vocab, I still will take it and give you partial credit.  There will be no blog this week but the weekly vocab is still due
8th Graders: Tonight's HW is to finish reading Act 2 Scene 1 and to answer the questions on the back of the focus question WS you received today.  Then, because we won't have class on Wednesday, Tuesday- Thursday's HW is to read and summarize Act 2 Scene 2.  You will be performing this scene in groups Friday.

5th graders:  Due to the craziness of this week and next (we won't be meeting at random times and some folks are going to 6 flags in addition to the trip that was today), I've decided to push the test back to next week.  It will just be on vocab and not the story.  Instead of the story test we will be doing a group poster project next week.  This will make it easier since we won't be meeting regularly so no one will have to worry about catching up.

8th Graders: you are to finish reading Act 1 scene 1 lines 180-251.  Then answer the following questions:  What is Hermia's and Helena's conversation basically about?  How does each girl feel?  What does Helena decide to do in the end?  Why do you think she does this?

Happy Monday!

5th graders: tonight's HW is a sequence of events work sheet. We are reading Tucket's Travels this week. Our vocab/story test will be Friday.

6th graders: We start Hatchet this week. You will have to read Chp 4 for HW on Tuesday night -- we have a quiz on Chp 4 on Wednesday. Also, identify at least 4 examples of sensory details in the chapters we've read so far.  Your blog and vocab assignment will be due on Thursday. But you will be given time on Thursday to work on these.

7th Graders: Tonight you must read Chp 9 and you will have a quiz on it tomorrow. The weekly blog and vocab will be due Friday. If you are in Archery you have until Sunday evening to work on the blog but hand in the vocab early. Wednesday night's HW is to read Chp 12.

8th Graders: You will be reading 1.1.1-1.1.129 in Midsummer Night's Dream tonight. Complete the character's wants and be sure to provide a line from the text to support your answer.

This Week

Hey there, everyone! I'm sure the 7th and 8th Graders are letting out a sigh of relief now that testing is over with. Just a reminder to the 7th Graders : chapter 4 and 5 of City of Ember are due to be read by tomorrow. Please make sure to complete question sheet for those two chapters. That will be a test grade. Bring your books to class as well. 8th Graders: get ready to read one of The Bard's most comical plays -- A Midsummer Night's Dream! 6th Graders: make sure the posters are just about ready to be presented tomorrow. I know some of you just need to glue and that's ok. 5th Graders: our projects will be due at the end of the period tomorrow. And good luck to the 5th and 6th graders next week on the NJASK!
