6K Science:

We have had a very busy week in Science! The scientists explored the surface of the moon by creating their very own. With aluminum foil and poster board, they discovered all the different contours that cover the surface. After creating their moons, together we placed them all together on a student designed bulletin board outside of our room. They even came up with a title for their bulletin board: Spaced Out!
As we wrap up the week, I just want to congratulate the scientists on earning a Bonus day. Together they did many kind things for their peers and teachers that earned them marbles in their jar. So to celebrate their kindness and hard work we are having the Bonus day today.
Thank you for a great week. Have a Spring-y weekend!:)

8th grade L.A.:
We also have been very busy in Language Arts this week! This week the eighth graders have started the book, Samurai Shortstop, by Alan Gratz. Last Friday we were introduced to the Japanese culture through the Tale of the 47 Ronin, here we discovered the way of the Samurai through the honor code of Bushido. Samurai Shortstop, takes the students on a journey through 19th century Japan at a time when Samurai's were told to put down their swords and our main character, Toyo, must learn to balance this new way of life.
Along with the book, the students are creating triaramas for their third 4x4 independent reading book. Students were to choose a scene from their book and recreate it in a triarama. I must say that the triaramas look wonderful. I am impressed with all of the students' creativity. Next week I will snap some pictures of the students working on their projects and send them home.
Thank you for a wonderful week. Have a Spring-y weekend!:)
